It’s been a really busy start to 2020 here at Content Hype and we can’t thank our many new clients and customers enough for trusting us with helping them with their content and marketing needs.

It seems I’ve fallen into the trap that so many of my clients do: I’m so busy working on their stuff, I’ve stopped looking after my own!

So this short blog is more about sharing some of the content we’ve worked on for one of our clients over the last month or so.

Essendon Royals Soccer Club

Essendon Royals is a client that is near and dear to my heart.

I make no secret of the fact that football is a major passion of mine and Essendon Royals is the club I’ve always felt the greatest connection with.

I played (very badly) at the club for a few years, going back to my junior days and then as an enthusiastic if a somewhat limited member of the reserves, and it’s a place where I’ve made many of my best friends and associations.

I’ve been back working with the Royals for the better part of eight or so months now, and we’ve had some great success in increasing the number of eyes and ears on the club’s content, the amount of audience engagement and ensuring members and their families are much better communicated with across the club’s various communication channels.

Metricon Partnership

With a new season approaching, we’ve been working particularly hard to ensure we provide greater value to our sponsors, which is why I’ve been particularly excited about this activation with one of the club’s major sponsors, Metricon Homes.

One of the challenges Metricon had with respect to their partnership with the Royals in 2019 was getting more people through the door of their Essendon show-home.

In 2020, we’re committed to helping Metricon show off its luxurious product so we thought where better than the Metricon home itself to shoot our 2020 season preview video series.

The first video went live yesterday and with five more to come, we’re excited to be able to showcase both the club and one of its major partners in such a unique way.

Archie Thompson signing

Of course, the off-season also means plenty of action in terms of senior-team recruitment and when it comes to local football, it doesn’t really get much bigger than Archie Thompson.

The Melbourne Victory legend and former Socceroo put pen to paper with the Royals in February, in a move that has generated a lot of interest and excitement into the club in 2020.

For someone like me, this sort of news makes my life very easy as there’s really no shortage of interest and ideas.

We gave the local paper, the Moonee Valley Leader, a heads-up on the news and set-up an interview for them with the senior coach, which meant they could release the story at the same time as the club with plenty of time to get us on the back page of the paper that week.

I think Twitter user, Kire, put it best.

This was another cool little bonus afforded to the club in terms of publicity from Thompson’s signing.

Thompson, making his commentary debut on Fox Sports, happened to be on the mic when a former junior of the Royals, Polly Doran, was being brought on to the field, which – thanks to some prompting from Archie’s co-commentator, Teo Pelizzeri – led to a nice little exchange about the club.
